Elorza Earns Endorsement of Lt. Governor Roberts, Tops $400K in Total Funds Raised

Democratic candidate for Mayor of Providence Jorge Elorza is closing out the last full week of the campaign on a strong note, winning the endorsement of Lt. Governor Elizabeth Roberts and topping the $400,000 mark in total campaign funds.

Roberts said, “I am proud to endorse Jorge Elorza because his message resonates loud and clear with voters all across the city; it’s bringing the people of Providence together in a very inspiring way. He has a forward-thinking vision and a real plan to make City Hall work for everyone.”

As of today, Elorza has brought in over $400,000 throughout his campaign. This exceeds the total dollars brought in by Angel Taveras on this same date in his successful 2010 campaign.

Elorza commented, “The outpouring of support from the community has been overwhelming and inspiring, and I’m particularly grateful to have Lt. Governor Roberts, a leader in good government and progressive politics, as a part of our team.”

He added, “It’s truly amazing to see how many people throughout our city are ready for new leadership with a new vision, and I’m humbled by their willingness to get involved with our grassroots campaign for One Providence.”

Elorza is a candidate in the Democratic primary next Tuesday.
